It Takes A Brave Soul

“Bravery is good when the cause is good.” – Bernard Schlink

It’s easy to find inspiration when we’re standing on top of a lush, green mountain, but who of us can find inspiration when perched on top of a giant mountain of trash? Christal Earle has spent a lot of her time standing on mountains of garbage, but instead of feeling discouraged, she has found a way to do great things. Great, and seemingly impossible things.

In 2005 Christal was working as a Humanitarian Aid in the Dominican Republic alongside people who make their living out of the world’s trash. She saw millions of items that had reached their end of life, but not their end of use.

After spending years trying to figure out what could be done with the one billion tires that end up in landfills each year, she finally had an Ah-Ha moment and created Brave Soles. Her beautiful, handcrafted footwear is made from upcycled leather and every sole is made from the tires she found filling those very landfills.

In this episode of the MAJAMAS EARTH CARE WHAT YOU WEAR & SO MUCH MORE Podcast, we learn how Christal’s decision to consider the universe a friendly place has kept her positive. Where most of us would feel distraught, Christal feels inspired to help the people living and working in the landfills. Honestly, she is one of the most positive and inspirational people I have ever spoken with.

Having a bad day? Trust ME and listen to this episode. Christal helps us realize our mountain of troubles are only a tiny nuisance. Her outlook on life is contagious and her story is one of hope. She shows us that by being a little more conscious with our purchases, we have the power to change the world and turn Climate Change from being our biggest fear into our greatest opportunity. I hope you enjoy this episode…
